Colorectal Surgery

In colorectal surgery, we treat malignant and benign diseases of the colon and rectum. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of death within malignant diseases, both in Germany and in Europe. It is estimated that one new case of the disease is diagnosed every day in the EU.

Approximately about 1000 patients are diagnosed. Our task is to ensure the survival and quality of life of our patients despite this diagnosis.

We use the experience of close cooperation with all leading European centers specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. We carry out joint projects and studies, training courses and training visits, and write joint publications in the specialized press. Thanks to the international quality assurance study, which has its headquarters in the AnInstitute of our University, we are able to use those methods in the therapy of our patients that provide the best results. Our clinic, as the only surgical institution from Germany, is one of the authors of the current European treatment guidelines for colorectal carcinoma [1]. This allows our patients to benefit from the latest European results without having to wait for them to find their way into national guidelines. We see ourselves as a contact for our patients, general practitioners and specialists in private practice, and also as a consultant for other hospitals in the region.
