Scope of duties and structure

The field of vascular surgery covers the entire spectrum of diagnostics and therapy of arterial and venous diseases. The vascular surgery department in the Department of Surgery has its own ward. In addition, patients with vascular surgical clinical pictures are cared for in the surgical or anesthesiological intensive care unit as well as in Intermediate Care.

There is a close cooperation with all clinics and special disciplines of the university hospital. The medical staff consists of a department head, two specialists and four residents (some with additional specialist certifications). The department has full authorization for further training in vascular surgery and phlebology.

A separate vascular consultation with authorization by a panel physician is affiliated with the inpatient care.
